These 1069 robots have danced their way to a Guinness World Record

The rise of machine intelligence isn't all bad or is it? Case in point: it's made possible a robot dance party which is ... oddly captivating to watch.

Over 1,000 robots have set a Guinness World Record for the "most robots dancing simultaneously" in China. The robots, all 1,069 of them, are all named Dobi and are made by WL Intelligent Technology.

The video posted on YouTube by Guinness World Records shows the robots perform a "choreographed" dance routine in nearly perfect synchronization for the record attempt.

Some robots toppled over during the routine and weren't included in the final count as they did not qualify.

They beat the previous record of 1,007 dancing robots by 62, which is pretty impressive in my books. Each robot costs about $230, has 17 joints — all for move busting, and the cutest dot-matrix LED eyes.

WL Tech organised the challenge in Guangzhou, Guangdong to showcase their latest robotic technology.

The official statement from Guinness World Records.
